HPCL's HRRL Refinery Resumes Operations; Diesel Dispatches to Start This Week
Mumbai, June 18, 2026: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has announced that the restoration work of the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) at HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) has been completed and the unit has been successfully restarted.
The development comes nearly two months after a localized fire in the CDU heat exchanger stack on April 20, 2026, which had temporarily impacted operations at the refinery.
According to the company, all product streams from the CDU and Vacuum Distillation Unit (VDU) are now being produced and routed to respective tanks for downstream processing.
Production of Key Petroleum Products Begins
HPCL said the HRRL refinery has already commenced production of key petroleum products, including:

BS-VI High Speed Diesel (HSD)

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
-
Petcoke
-
Naphtha
Sales of LPG and Petcoke have already started, while dispatches of BS-VI diesel are expected to commence by the end of this week. Production and dispatches of BS-VI Motor Spirit (petrol) are expected to begin next week.
Gradual Ramp-Up Towards Full Capacity
HPCL and HRRL management said they remain focused on ensuring safe, stable and efficient operations as the refinery progressively ramps up production towards optimal capacity utilization.
The company also acknowledged the support received from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), the Government of India, the Government of Rajasthan and other stakeholders during the restoration process.
