IIM Ranchi–SAIL Case Challenge Showcases India’s Top Strategy Talent, IIT Delhi Wins
New Delhi: The grand finale of “Nation Forged: The SAIL Transformation Quest”, a premier national case study competition, concluded successfully at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi, showcasing India’s brightest young strategic minds.
The competition, jointly organised by IIM Ranchi and SAIL–Management Training Institute (MTI), Ranchi, brought together top management and technical institutions to address real-world strategic challenges facing Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
Five finalist teams presented comprehensive strategies focused on accelerating branded steel adoption, modernising distribution networks, strengthening ESG integration, and developing future-ready marketing models aligned with India’s rapidly evolving steel ecosystem.
After a rigorous final round, the jury comprising experts from SAIL, IIM Ranchi, and Tata Motors announced the results:

The finalists demonstrated exceptional depth in industry analysis, branding innovation, sustainability integration, and long-term transformation roadmaps.
The case study reflected national priorities including the National Green Steel Mission, Make in India, and India’s expanding dealer–MSME–rural market ecosystem, while emphasising strategic opportunities arising from rising steel demand and sustainability commitments.
Senior dignitaries praised the initiative for strengthening industry–academia collaboration, nurturing future business leaders, and exposing students to transformation challenges of national importance.
