New Delhi: His Excellency Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, the Foreign Minister of Japan, experienced India's flagship urban transport system firsthand today with a ride on the Delhi Metro.

Accompanied by H.E. Mr. ONO Keiichi, the Japanese Ambassador to India, the high-level delegation was received at the Central Secretariat Metro Station by senior officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The officials briefed the Minister on the details and progress of the massive metro network.

Following the briefing, the delegation boarded a metro train for a ride from Central Secretariat to Patel Chowk and back.

A Symbol of Strategic Partnership

During the visit, Foreign Minister Motegi showed keen interest in various aspects of the metro's construction and operational excellence. The Delhi Metro stands as a proud symbol of the deep-rooted Indo-Japanese friendship and strategic collaboration.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been a cornerstone partner in this success story, providing crucial financial and technical support to the Delhi Metro project right from its Phase 1. JICA's longstanding assistance has been instrumental in building one of the world's most modern and efficient metro systems.

The visit underscores the strong bilateral ties between India and Japan, which extend across infrastructure, technology, and economic cooperation. The Delhi Metro remains one of the most visible and successful examples of this enduring partnership.
