NHPC and NDSA Review Progress at 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydro Project

Shri Anil Kumar Jain, Chairman of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), along with Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD of NHPC, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC, and other NDSA members, visited the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project on 12–13 January 2026 to review progress and assess preparedness for commissioning.

During the visit, Shri Rajendra Prasad, Executive Director and Head of the Project, briefed the dignitaries on reservoir filling as of 13 January 2026, ongoing activities in the dam and power house areas, commissioning readiness of Units 1, 3, and 4, and progress of balance works for Units 5 to 8.

The officials carried out a detailed inspection of the dam, diversion tunnel inlet and outlet areas, and the power house, followed by an in-depth discussion with the NDSA team on ongoing activities in the dam area.

Subsequently, the CMD and Director (Projects) held a separate review meeting with senior officers and project execution agencies to assess the status of erection, testing, and commissioning of the remaining units. The CMD directed that all pending activities be completed expeditiously in line with the approved schedule, aiming for the early commissioning of remaining units. He also appreciated the dedication and commitment of the project team, urging them to maintain momentum for timely completion.
