New Delhi: NHPC Limited, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, achieved two major milestones at its 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydro-Electric (HE) Project spanning Arunachal Pradesh and Assam during the intervening night of January 31 and February 1, 2026. These achievements mark a significant step toward strengthening India’s energy security, grid stability, and clean energy transition.
The first milestone was the synchronisation of the 3rd Unit (Unit#1 of 250 MW) with the National Grid at 21:00 hours on January 31, 2026. Shortly after, the commercial operation of the second unit (Unit#3 of 250 MW) was successfully commenced at midnight on February 1, 2026. With these two units now operational, the Subansiri Lower HE Project has contributed 500 MW out of its total 2000 MW capacity to the National Grid, bolstering hydropower’s role in peak power support, grid stability, and renewable energy integration.
Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD of NHPC, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Power, and the Governments of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. He praised the dedicated efforts of the Subansiri Project team, led by Shri Rajendra Prasad, Executive Director, and all officials at NHPC’s Corporate Office, highlighting that the successful commissioning demonstrates NHPC’s technical expertise and its vital contribution to India’s sustainable and self-reliant power sector. Shri Gupta emphasized that these achievements will aid the timely commissioning of the remaining units.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), congratulated the NHPC teams at the site and Corporate Office for their relentless commitment. Shri Rajendra Prasad also acknowledged the support of NHPC management, corporate teams, executing agencies including GE Vernova, BGS-SGS-SOMA, TREL, and PEL, as well as local stakeholders.
The Subansiri Lower HE Project stands as a testament to India’s focus on expanding hydropower capacity, reinforcing the nation’s clean energy goals, and enhancing grid resilience for a rapidly growing economy.
नई दिल्ली, 1 फरवरी 2026 – पावर मंत्रालय के अधीन नवरत्न पीएसयू NHPC लिमिटेड ने अरुणाचल प्रदेश और असम में स्थित अपने 2000 मेगावाट सुबनसिरी लोअर जलविद्युत परियोजना में 31 जनवरी और 1 फरवरी 2026 की मध्यरात्रि के दौरान दो अहम उपलब्धियां हासिल की हैं। इससे देश की ऊर्जा सुरक्षा, ग्रिड स्थिरता और स्वच्छ ऊर्जा संक्रमण को बड़ी मजबूती मिली है।
पहली उपलब्धि के तहत तीसरी यूनिट (यूनिट-1, 250 मेगावाट) को 31 जनवरी 2026 को रात 9:00 बजे राष्ट्रीय ग्रिड से सफलतापूर्वक सिंक्रोनाइज़ किया गया। इसके बाद दूसरी यूनिट (यूनिट-3, 250 मेगावाट) को 1 फरवरी 2026 को रात 12:00 बजे व्यावसायिक रूप से चालू (COD) किया गया।
इन दोनों यूनिट्स के चालू होने के साथ ही सुबनसिरी लोअर परियोजना से अब तक कुल 500 मेगावाट स्वच्छ जलविद्युत क्षमता राष्ट्रीय ग्रिड में जुड़ चुकी है, जिससे पीक डिमांड सपोर्ट, ग्रिड बैलेंसिंग और रिन्यूएबल एनर्जी इंटीग्रेशन को बल मिलेगा।
NHPC के CMD श्री भूपेंद्र गुप्ता ने इस उपलब्धि के लिए भारत सरकार के विद्युत मंत्रालय तथा अरुणाचल प्रदेश और असम सरकार का आभार व्यक्त किया। उन्होंने परियोजना प्रमुख श्री राजेंद्र प्रसाद (कार्यकारी निदेशक) के नेतृत्व में सुबनसिरी परियोजना टीम और कॉरपोरेट ऑफिस के सभी अधिकारियों के प्रयासों की सराहना की।
श्री गुप्ता ने कहा कि इन यूनिट्स का सफल कमीशनिंग NHPC की तकनीकी दक्षता, निष्पादन क्षमता और भारत सरकार के आत्मनिर्भर एवं सतत ऊर्जा क्षेत्र के विजन को साकार करने में इसकी अहम भूमिका को दर्शाता है। उन्होंने विश्वास जताया कि इससे शेष यूनिट्स के समयबद्ध कमीशनिंग का मार्ग प्रशस्त होगा।
निदेशक (परियोजनाएं) श्री संजय कुमार सिंह ने भी साइट और कॉरपोरेट ऑफिस की पूरी NHPC टीम को बधाई दी। वहीं श्री राजेंद्र प्रसाद ने NHPC प्रबंधन, कॉरपोरेट टीमों, कार्यान्वयन एजेंसियों – GE Vernova, BGS-SGS-SOMA, TREL और PEL, तथा स्थानीय हितधारकों के सहयोग के लिए धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया।
