NMDC @68: Celebrates More Than Six and a Half Decades of Excellence as India’s Leading Iron Ore Producer
India’s largest iron ore producer, entered 68 years of operations and celebrated its Foundation Day with great pride. The occasion was marked by the organisation’s flagship recognition platform, the CMD Excellence Awards, honouring outstanding contributions across the company.
Hyderabad, November 17: On November 15, NMDC, India’s largest iron ore producer, entered 68 years of operations and celebrated its Foundation Day with great pride. The occasion was marked by the organisation’s flagship recognition platform, the CMD Excellence Awards, honouring outstanding contributions across the company.
The celebration commemorated NMDC’s remarkable journey from a single-unit operation established in 1958 to becoming India’s largest iron ore producer and a globally recognised leader in mining.
The event was graced by Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, NMDC along with senior leadership including Shri Vishwanath Suresh, Director (Commercial); Shri Vinay Kumar, Director (Technical); Shri Joydeep Dasgupta, Director (Production); Smt. Priyadarshini, Director (Personnel); Independent Directors and Past directors; senior officials; employees; and their family members.
The CMD Excellence Awards were presented across several categories, including Khanij Ratna (Individual and Group), NMDC Ratna (Individual and Group), CMD Shield for Best Department – Production & Sales, CMD Shield for Best Department – Support, and Best Project and Best Project (Works).
Instituted in 2023, these awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional efforts and achievements of NMDC employees across the organisation.
Congratulating the NMDC family, Shri Amitava Mukherjee said: “NMDC is a company with a history much older than ours and a future much longer than ours. We are bringing in state-of-the-art, digitally enabled equipment to strengthen our operations. The awardees have inspired us and reaffirmed our resolve that our collective dreams will be realised in full measure. We may be sixty-plus, but we are young, still growing and learning; learning as we grow and growing as we learn. And as the famous saying goes, Only those who risk going too far can find out how far they can go. We are sowing the seeds for NMDC 2.0.”
