ONGC Invites EOIs for Non-Chemical, Non-Thermal Flow Assurance Technologies in SRP Wells

Ahmedabad: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has invited Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from technology providers to identify and trial innovative non-chemical, non-thermal flow assurance solutions in its Ahmedabad Asset, India’s second-largest onshore oil-producing asset.

This initiative focuses on a major operational challenge in wells using Sucker Rod Pumps (SRPs). Waxy crude deposits often cause sucker rods to get stuck and disrupt flow. Traditional methods like chemical injection are not practical in some SRP completions. As a result, operators must use rig-based or rig-less interventions, which lead to higher downtime and costs.

Objectives of the EOI

- Identify non-chemical, non-thermal technologies suitable for SRP-completed wells.
- Assess market interest and technical capabilities of vendors.
- Shortlist providers for free field trials in high-viscosity, wax-prone wells.

Scope of Work for Vendors
Selected technology providers will need to:

- Deploy solutions that work without external heating or chemical injection.
- Show proven performance in similar environments.
- Conduct free field trials in designated ONGC wells.
- Monitor and report technical performance throughout the trial.

With this initiative, ONGC aims to find cost-effective, sustainable alternatives to traditional flow assurance methods. This also supports its broader goal of improving efficiency and innovation in upstream oil production.
