POWERGRID Approves Investment of Over ₹914 Crore for Cold Spare Transformers and Reactors
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), India’s central transmission utility, has approved investment proposals worth ₹913.99 crore for the procurement of cold spare transformers and reactors across multiple regions in the country.
The approvals were granted by the Committee of Directors on Investment on Projects of POWERGRID at its meeting held on January 20, 2026, the company informed stock exchanges in compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Details of Approved Projects
The approved investment proposals include the following projects, each scheduled to be completed within 30 months from the date of investment approval:

Western Region (WRPC):
Procurement of cold spare transformers and reactors approved in the 51st Western Regional Power Committee (WRPC), with an estimated cost of ₹401.88 crore. -
North Eastern Region (NERPC):
Procurement of cold spare transformers and reactors approved in the 28th North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC), with an estimated investment of ₹166.33 crore. -
Southern Region (SRPC):
Procurement of cold spare transformers and reactors approved in the 53rd Southern Regional Power Committee (SRPC), at an estimated cost of ₹345.78 crore.
Strengthening Power Grid Reliability
The procurement of cold spare transformers and reactors is aimed at enhancing the reliability and resilience of the national transmission network by ensuring quick replacement during contingencies and minimizing power outages.
