RailTel receives ₹49.24 lakh GST penalty; company to challenge order
Mumbai, January 15, 2026: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd on Thursday informed stock exchanges that it has received a demand notice imposing a penalty of ₹49.24 lakh from the Assistant Commissioner, CGST & CX, Itanagar Division.
In a regulatory filing, the public sector telecom infrastructure provider said the demand has been issued in the form of a DRC-07 order dated January 15, 2026. The company clarified that the matter does not have any material impact on its financial position, operations or other business activities.
“The orders are challengeable and necessary appeals have been filed or are in the process of being filed with the appropriate appellate authorities,” the company said.
RailTel made the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, as required for material corporate developments.
The company did not specify the nature of the alleged violations in its filing but stated that the issue is being addressed through legal channels.
Shares of RailTel were trading largely flat in afternoon trade following the disclosure.
