Railway Board Extends Deputation of Akhil Kumar Agarwal at IRCON
The Railway Board has approved the extension of Shri Akhil Kumar Agarwal’s deputation as CGM/Civil at IRCON International Ltd. until December 6, 2027, ensuring leadership continuity in the railway sector.

The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) has approved the extension of deputation for Shri Akhil Kumar Agarwal, IRSE, who is currently serving as Chief General Manager (Civil) at IRCON International Ltd. (IRCON).
Shri Agarwal, born on August 5, 1972, and an Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer since September 20, 1999, previously held the position of Chief Engineer (CE) at Northern Railway.
The Railway Board has sanctioned the extension of his deputation until December 6, 2027, marking his 6th and 7th year at IRCON, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The extension is granted with the condition that IRCON is exempt from the rule of immediate absorption and that all existing terms and conditions continue to apply.
However, it has been specifically noted that Shri Agarwal will not be eligible to draw deputation (duty) allowance beyond his fifth year of deputation. The extension was issued following vetting by the Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.
This move ensures continuity of leadership at IRCON, one of India’s premier infrastructure and construction firms in the railway sector.
