Railway Board Extends Ruchira Chatterjee Deputation in RailTel up to 7th Year
The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) has approved the extension of deputation tenure of senior Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPFS) officer Ruchira Chatterjee with RailTel Corporation of India Limited.
The order was issued from New Delhi on 19 May 2026, extending her tenure in a key senior management role under revised terms and conditions.
Extended Tenure Up to 7th Year
As per the official order, the officer’s deputation has been extended:

Up to the 7th year of deputation tenure

Till 14 May 2027, or until RailTel is exempted from immediate absorption rules

Whichever is earlier
She continues to serve as General Manager (Administration & Security / Corporate Office) at RailTel.
Revised Terms of Deputation
The extension includes a key revision in service conditions:

The officer will not be eligible for deputation (duty) allowance beyond the 5th year

All other terms and conditions remain unchanged

Approval has been issued with Finance Directorate vetting
Compliance and Service Conditions
The order reiterates standard deputation compliance provisions, including:

Requirement to return to parent railway cadre after completion

Deemed resignation clause if the officer does not return within one month after tenure completion
