RECPDCL Hands Over Velgaon Power Transmission SPV to Ceigall India Limited

New Delhi, 9 January 2026: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited RECPDCL, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, the Maharatna CPSU under the Ministry of Power, on Thursday formally handed over Velgaon Power Transmission Limited, a project specific Special Purpose Vehicle SPV of the Intra State Transmission Project of Maharashtra, to Ceigall India Limited.

The handover took place on 9 January 2026 under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding TBCB route. Ceigall India Limited emerged as the successful bidder through the competitive process conducted by RECPDCL in its role as Bid Process Coordinator. The project will be developed on a Build Own Operate and Transfer BOOT basis with an implementation period of 24 months.

The SPV was officially handed over by Shri Vijay Kulkarni, Senior General Manager and Head Transmission and Distribution RECPDCL, to Dr Sudhir Rao Hoshing, Wholetime Director, Ceigall India Limited, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, Ceigall India Limited and Maharashtra State Transmission Utility.

The transmission scheme broadly covers the establishment of a 400 by 220 kV Velgaon Substation GIS and LILO of 400 kV double circuit and 220 kV double circuit and single circuit lines at Velgaon Substation, along with other associated works. The project is expected to significantly strengthen Maharashtra’s power transmission infrastructure and support growing energy demand across the region.

This development marks another important milestone in India’s transmission sector, reflecting the government’s continued push for modern, efficient and competitive power infrastructure development.
