RVNL Emerges L1 Bidder for Rs 180.77-Cr Railway Electrification Project

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a prominent public sector company focused on railway infrastructure development, has announced a major contract after coming in as the lowest bidder for a significant project with the North Eastern Railway.
This project is crucial for modernizing the rail network. It involves upgrading the overhead equipment (OHE) system in the Lucknow division of Northern Railway.
Key Project Specifications
The contract is worth Rs 180,77,92,324.55 (about Rs 180.77 crore), including taxes. It aims to improve the capacity of the UTR-MWP section, which covers 184 RKM/368 TKM. The work involves designing, supplying, erecting, testing, and commissioning OHE modifications and feeder wire work for the specialized 2x25 kV traction system.
RVNL is expected to finish this complex project in 24 months.
RVNL works on various railway projects. These include building new lines, doubling tracks, converting gauges, electrification, metro projects, and constructing major bridges.
Financial and Market Snapshot
The announcement of the L1 bid offers a positive business update, even though the company reported a slight drop in its recent profit figures:
Q2 FY26 Net Profit: The consolidated net profit fell by 19.73% year-on-year to Rs 230.29 crore, down from Rs 286.88 crore in Q2 FY25.
Revenue: On the other hand, revenue from operations showed resilience, rising 5.22% year-on-year to Rs 5,122.98 crore in Q2 FY26.
After announcing the successful L1 bid, the company's shares saw a slight increase, closing 0.46% higher at Rs 315.50 on the BSE.
