New Delhi, July 18, 2025 – The Ministry of Power, Government of India, has initiated the process to fill three pivotal leadership positions at the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) through a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) mode. The vacancies are for the posts of Chairman, Member-Secretary, and Member (Finance). These appointments are crucial for the continued development and operational efficiency of DVC, a statutory body established under the Damodar Valley Corporation Act, 1948.

The selected candidates for all three positions will serve for a period of five years from the date of assuming charge, or until their superannuation, whichever occurs earlier. All three roles are based in Kolkata, the headquarters of DVC.

Eligibility and Application Details:

Applicants for these prestigious roles must be currently employed in a regular capacity—not contractual or ad-hoc—within the Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, All India Services (including Armed Forces Personnel), Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), or DVC itself.

For the Chairman position, candidates must be between 45 and 58 years of age. The pay scale for this role is Rs. 2,00,000-3,70,000 along with admissible allowances (IDA pattern). The Chairman will serve as the Chief Executive Officer and Head of the Corporation, responsible for conceptual thinking, policy formulation, and overall administrative and operational control to achieve DVC's objectives. Experience in the power sector, management, and finance, coupled with an MBA, is desirable.

The Member-Secretary role requires candidates to be between 45 and 55 years old, with a pay scale of Rs. 1,80,000-3,40,000 plus admissible allowances (IDA pattern). This individual will be responsible for overall administration, including personnel policies, management functions, industrial relations, land acquisition, CSR, and conducting Board meetings. A postgraduate degree, preferably with a specialization in Human Resources or Industrial Relations, and senior-level experience in a large organization are preferred.

For the Member (Finance) position, the age limit is between 45 and 58 years, and the pay scale matches that of the Member-Secretary: Rs. 1,80,000-3,40,000 with admissible allowances (IDA pattern). The Member (Finance) will oversee all financial, commercial, accounts, and audit functions, and will be responsible for financial policies, fundraising, and market strategies. A background as a Cost Accountant, Chartered Accountant, or an MBA with a specialization in Finance, along with senior-level experience in corporate financial management, is required.

Application Process and Deadline:

Prospective candidates are required to submit their applications through proper channels within 30 days from the advertisement's publication date in the 'Employment News'. This date will also be the cut-off for determining eligibility concerning age and experience. Applicants wishing to apply for multiple posts must submit a separate application for each position.

Applications, along with authenticated hard copies (in duplicate) of ACR/APARS for the last ten years, should be forwarded by the respective Cadre Controlling Authorities to the Additional Secretary (Thermal), Ministry of Power, Room No. 415, A Wing, Shram Shakti Bhawan, Rafi Marg, New Delhi 110001. In addition to the standard application, each candidate must provide a brief note, not exceeding two A4 pages, detailing their major achievements over the past decade and their vision for the development of DVC or the Power Sector in India. The Search-cum-Selection Committee reserves the right to shortlist candidates for interviews, and incomplete or late applications will be summarily rejected.
