The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued important instructions for candidates shortlisted for the recruitment of Assistant Director Grade-I (Industrial Engineering and Development Services – Metal Finishing) in the Office of the Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

The recruitment pertains to two vacancies advertised under Advertisement No. 07/2025 (Vacancy No. 25060733614). Candidates whose applications have been marked as provisional, or who are required to submit pending documents as per the shortlisting criteria, have been given an opportunity to submit representations.

UPSC has clarified that representations, along with supporting documentary evidence, must be emailed to upsc.spc1@gov.in on or before 26 January 2026. Candidates are required to clearly mention their Roll Number and subject line in the email. Any communication received after the specified date will not be considered.

The Commission stated that all representations will be examined strictly in line with the prescribed eligibility criteria and adopted scrutiny modalities. Where claims are found valid, the concerned candidates will be considered for shortlisting, and updated scrutiny details will be published on the UPSC website. No individual replies will be sent to candidates.

Failure to submit the required documents within the stipulated timeline may result in cancellation of candidature.

Educational Eligibility

Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications from a recognized university or institute:

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry, or

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Technology or Chemical Engineering

Documents Required for Scrutiny

Candidates may be required to submit:

  • Proof of date of birth (Matriculation or Higher Secondary certificate/marksheet)

  • Degree or provisional certificate along with mark sheets of all academic years

  • Government service certificate (where age relaxation is claimed)

  • PwBD certificate, if applicable, indicating nature of disability

  • Affidavit for any discrepancy in name or father’s name between documents and the online application

Candidates Shortlisted for Interview

UPSC has shortlisted 18 candidates for interview based on scrutiny of applications. Additionally, one candidate has been provisionally shortlisted, subject to submission of an affidavit regarding name discrepancy as per prescribed norms.

The Commission has advised candidates to carefully review the instructions and ensure timely compliance to avoid disqualification.
