GOI Appoints Sanjay Kumar as Additional Secretary of Three Key Departments

New Delhi, January 11, 2026: The Government of India has assigned additional charge of three major departments to Shri Sanjay Kumar, IAS (Bihar cadre: 1990). The decision was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).

According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on January 11, 2026, Sanjay Kumar, who is currently serving as Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, will also hold charge of the following departments from January 12 to January 18, 2026:

Department of Personnel and Training
Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances
Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare

The additional responsibility has been assigned during the leave period of Ms Rachna Shah, IAS (Kerala cadre: 1991).

The order was signed by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, Secretary, Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and Establishment Officer.

This temporary arrangement ensures uninterrupted functioning of key personnel and administrative departments at the central government level. The notification has been circulated to senior constitutional authorities, Union Ministers, Chief Secretaries of all states, and other concerned offices.
