IA&AS Officer Vikash Kumar's Post Re-designated as Director in Ministry of Defence

New Delhi, December 10, 2025: The Government of India has approved the re-designation of the post of Deputy Secretary, currently held by Shri Vikash Kumar, IA&AS (2012), as Director in the Ministry of Defence.

According to an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), this upgradation has been approved as a measure personal to him, effective from January 1, 2026, or from the date he assumes charge of the re-designated post, whichever is later.

Shri Vikash Kumar will serve in the upgraded role till April 14, 2029, completing the full five-year tenure allowed under the Central Staffing Scheme.

His current central deputation with the Ministry of Defence began on April 15, 2024.
The order has been communicated to the Ministry of Defence, the Department of Expenditure, and other concerned offices for necessary administrative action.
