BEL establishes Primary Health Centre in Tamil Nadu as part of social responsibility
BEL has, as part of its CSR initiatives, established a new Primary Health Centre at Irumbedu village, Tiruvannamalai District, Tamil Nadu. The new health centre has been constructed as an extension to the existing facility here which is over 35 years old.
Mr Vikraman N, Director (HR), BEL, dedicated the new health center, complete with Ultrasound Scan Machine, medical & non-medical equipment, furniture, borewell, overhead tank and septic tank for public use on Feb 7, 2025, in the presence of GM (BEL-Chennai) and Block Medical Officer, Vazhur.
The new health center, set up at an estimated cost of Rs.1.77 Cr aims at preventing the spread of communicable diseases (CD) to pregnant mothers and patients with NCD (Non-communicable Diseases). Hitherto, due to space constraints, both CD and NCD patients were being treated in the same facility.

The new facility also includes outpatient care, a well-ventilated patient waiting hall, a scan room with a rest room for Ante-natal Care check-ups, a blood laboratory, a medical waste management room, an injection/dressing room, a staff-nurse station, a pharmacy, an emergency care/first-aid room.
The facility is expected to cater to the medical needs of approximately 20,000 patients from in and around Irumbedu village.
