BPCL Project Pragati Trains 10,000 Mechanics; Milestone Celebrated with Union Minister

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has successfully trained 10,000 mechanics under its CSR initiative Project Pragati. 11 trainees were felicitated in the presence of Union Minister of Heavy Industries Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy.

Mumbai, 8 September 2026: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) marked a key milestone under its CSR initiative Project Pragati with the felicitation of 11 trainees representing the 10,000 mechanics successfully trained under the programme.

The event was held in the presence of Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister of Heavy Industries.

About Project Pragati

Project Pragati aims to strengthen the skills of mechanics across India in the maintenance of BS6-compliant two-wheelers and four-wheelers. It also equips trainees with skills in customer handling and entrepreneurship to support sustainable livelihoods.

The centre-based training programme, implemented in partnership with the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), covered:

  • BS6 engine technology

  • Fuel injection systems

  • OBD-I and OBD-II

  • Advanced diagnostic tools

  • Vehicle electrical systems

Trainees were certified jointly by ASDC and BPCL. Select candidates also pursued NSQF Level 5 certification.

Significance

The milestone reflects BPCL’s continued commitment to strengthening the unorganised automotive service ecosystem and building a more skilled and self-reliant workforce across the country.
