NTPC Talcher Kaniha Supports Government Schools of 72 villages with Dual-Desk Benches
Odisha, February 21, 2026: NTPC Talcher Kaniha, in its endeavour to support quality education in nearby schools, carried out a significant CSR initiative aimed at improving infrastructural facilities for school children in 81 government schools across 72 villages of Kaniha block. Under this programme, a total of 1,400 nos of dual-desk benches were provided to the schools.
The distribution drive began on 29 November 2025, with Khajuria Upper Primary School and Jharabarani School receiving dual desks in the first phase. By 7th February 2026, all 81 schools in the block had been successfully equipped with the benches, directly benefiting thousands of students.
This initiative reflects NTPC Talcher Kaniha’s sustained focus on enhancing access to quality education in its areas of operation. By addressing essential infrastructural needs, the project aims to improve student comfort, classroom engagement, and overall academic experience.
In the area of sanitation, the station has constructed 75 toilet blocks in schools, benefiting thousands of students and promoting hygiene and dignity. Further strengthening its commitment to girl child empowerment, 550 girls have benefitted under the Girl Empowerment Mission programme to date, fostering confidence, skills development, and educational motivation among young participants.
Over the years, NTPC Talcher Kaniha has undertaken several impactful CSR programmes across education, healthcare, sanitation, and rural infrastructure, consistently contributing to the socio-economic development of nearby villages.
