Israel expresses support for Iranian people amid ongoing protests

Tel Aviv, January 11, 2026: Israel has expressed its support for the Iranian people as widespread protests continue across the Islamic Republic. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that Israel stands with Iranians in their pursuit of freedom and hopes for their success.

The protests, which began over rising living costs, have rapidly grown into a wider movement challenging Iran’s theocratic government that has been in power since 1979. Saar emphasized that Israel’s concern lies with the Iranian regime rather than the Iranian population, highlighting the regime’s role in promoting terrorism and regional instability.

Tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated in the past year, with Israel carrying out targeted operations against Iranian military and nuclear facilities in June, a move in which the United States briefly participated. Iran, meanwhile, has accused Israel and the United States of attempting to destabilize the country.

Saar reiterated Israel’s support for the people of Iran, stating that they deserve freedom and self-determination, and clarified that Israel does not have hostility toward ordinary Iranians.
