BPCL Signs Two MoUs to Boost Urban Infrastructure and Heritage Conservation in Varanasi
Varanasi, September 8, 2026: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to enhance urban infrastructure, green spaces, heritage conservation, tourism facilities and public amenities in Varanasi.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Shri Ashok Tiwari (BJP), Mayor, Varanasi Nagar Nigam; Shri S. Rajalingam, Commissioner, Varanasi Division; and Shri Sanjay Khanna, Chairman & Managing Director, BPCL.
First MoU – Parks and Food Street Hubs
The first MoU was signed between BPCL, Kashi Integrated Parking & Recreational Foundation (KIPRF) and Varanasi Smart City Ltd. (VSCL).
Under this agreement, BPCL has committed to:

Redevelop and beautify 119 public parks across the city

Develop Food Street Hubs at Sarnath and Maidagin
Second MoU – Heritage Streets
The second MoU was signed between BPCL and the Varanasi Development Authority (VDA).
Under this MoU, BPCL will support the beautification of heritage streets and key corridors across Varanasi.
Expected Impact
Together, these initiatives will improve public spaces and urban infrastructure while helping preserve and showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage of Varanasi for residents and tourists alike.
