The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN) to enhance the adoption of renewable energy. This initiative involves the installation of 3,281 kW of rooftop solar power plants across 16 CISF campuses in 11 states, with a completion deadline set for October 31.

This new capacity will be added to the existing 1,990 kW of solar power already installed at four CISF campuses: RTC Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu), Mahipalpur Campus (Delhi), RTC Behror (Rajasthan), and 8th RB Jaipur (Rajasthan). Once the new installations are completed, the total solar power capacity across all CISF campuses will reach an impressive 5,271 kW, according to a CISF official.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has tasked NVVN with executing this project under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) Model, which enables the installation, operation, and maintenance of rooftop on-grid solar power plants across all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) campuses.

Under this model, NVVN will bear the capital expenditure, and the CISF will only pay for the electricity generated at a fixed tariff for the duration of the 25-year agreement.

The new solar installations will be spread across the following states: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Bihar, Gujarat, Odisha, and Telangana. Each location will play a key role in contributing to the C ISF's sustainability goals and the Government of India’s broader vision for energy security and a greener future
