NLCIL celebrates 68th Raising Day

NLCIL celebrates 68th Raising Day

New Delhi: The 68th Raising Day of NLC India Limited was celebrated on 20th May, 2024 at Neyveli in a grand manner. The celebration commenced with the garlanding of the statue of Shri Jambulinga Mudaliar in Neyveli Township. 

The NLCIL flag was hoisted at all Units. At the Corporate Office, NLCIL CMD Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli hoisted the NLCIL flag and wished the employees on the occasion. 

Later in the evening, a formal function with usual fervour was arranged at Lignite Hall. Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR), NLCIL, welcomed the gathering. Shri Prasanna Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, while speaking on the occasion, lauded Shri Jambulinga Mudaliar, describing him as the man who sowed the seeds of NLCIL Company by donating his entire lands for the inception of the company for carrying out Mining activities. CMD also expressed gratitude to all employees and stakeholders of yesteryears and their families who were responsible for the evolution and growth of NLCIL. He proudly stated that the Mining and Power Generation capacity of NLCIL had reached new heights. He also outlined the ambitious plans of NLCIL to augment the installed Power Generation capacity including Renewable Energy to more than 17 GW and Mining capacity to more than 102 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) by 2030.

CMD also declared that NLCIL was poised to transform into an integrated energy company by venturing into Renewable Projects (Solar & Wind power), Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Green Hydrogen, Pumped Storage Hydro projects, Lignite to Methanol, Mine Overburden-to-sand and Critical Mineral Exploration for sustainability.  He also highlighted the results of the last Financial Year 2023-24, where NLCIL achieved an increase of 48% Profit After Tax (PAT) to Rs. 1847 Crore and an increase of 31% in consolidated PAT to 1868 Crore. This is in addition to achievements of highest ever coal and lignite production.

Shri Prasanna Kumar observed that the introduction of “Idea Generation Scheme” and Values – NLCIL COMMITS created a new synergy to the work culture in the company. The many awards won by NLCIL were the testimony of its best performance in productivity, Management, CSR and Environmental sustainability. He said that it was a proud moment for NLCIL in having our Fire Mock Drill Video uploaded in MoC’s Social media handles as proof of Safety standards practiced in NLCIL.  He also said that all the employees and workmen of NLCIL would make an uncompromising and scrupulous commitment towards the progress and prosperity of the company.

As mark of recognition to the contributions in the evolution of the company, CMD, NLCIL honoured 10 elderly retired employees of NLCIL with a shawl and a gift hamper.

Awards were distributed under various categories like Production, Efficiency, Overall performances (for Units), Safety, Service, and Sports. A Corporate Identity Manual which lays down the guidelines for maintaining consistency and strong corporate identity and a Book on Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) containing the environmental and social standards practiced in NLCIL, right from its inception were also released during the function. 

The function was attended by NLCIL’s Functional Directors, Senior Officials, Executives, Employees, representatives of Trade Unions and Welfare Associations, WIPS, School teachers & students and general public. Later, a grand cultural programme was performed by students of NLC schools and Sneha Opportunity School.
