PGCIL commissions transmission project to connect Jamnagar oil refinery

Power Sector PSU Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has informed that it has commissioned the transmission project connecting Reliance’s Jamnagar oil refinery to the Jam Khambaliya inter-state transmission system (ISTS) pooling station.
PGCIL’s board approved the project in September 2022.
The project was commissioned on 05 May 2024 for which notification/declaration for commercial operation (DOCO) was received on 27 May 2024. The project includes a 400 kV double-circuit line from Jamnagar to Jam Khambaliya GIS PS (60 km), and two 400 kV line bays at Jam Khambaliya GIS pooling station. The Jamnagar oil refinery in Gujarat has a total load of 1,450 MW and a 1,750 MW captive power plant.
