JSW Energy (Utkal) Signs 400 MW Power Deal with Karnataka DISCOMs
Mumbai: JSW Energy (Utkal) Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy Ltd, has signed a major Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with several electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) in Karnataka. Under this agreement, Utkal will supply 400 MW of power to Karnataka for 25 years, starting from April 1, 2026, at a tariff of ₹5.78 per kWh.
This long-term agreement will help JSW Energy reduce its open or unsold power capacity from about 8% to nearly 5%, giving the company stronger revenue stability and reducing financial risks.
With this PPA in place, JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity has now increased to 30.5 GW. This includes:
-
13.3 GW of operational capacity
-
12.4 GW under construction (thermal + renewable)
-
150 MW of hydro capacity under acquisition
-
4.6 GW in the development pipeline
The company also has 29.4 GWh of confirmed energy storage capacity, including hydro pumped storage and battery storage systems.
JSW Energy continues to move toward its long-term goals of achieving 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of storage capacity by 2030. The company also aims to become carbon neutral by 2050.
JSW Energy is one of India’s leading private sector power companies and is part of the USD 23 billion JSW Group, which has strong presence in energy, steel, cement, infrastructure, and sports.
