NLC India Expands Thermal Power to 1660 MW via NTPL & NUPPL
NLC India Limited enhances its power portfolio with 1660 MW of coal-based energy through NTPL in Tamil Nadu and NUPPL in Uttar Pradesh, raising its total installed capacity to 6731 MW.

New Delhi, 24 July 2025. NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Coal, has notably strengthened India’s thermal power sector by generating 1660 MW of coal-based energy through two strategic joint ventures: NTPL in Tamil Nadu and NUPPL in Uttar Pradesh.
At NTPL in Tuticorin, NLCIL works with Tamil Nadu’s TANGEDCO to run a 2 x 500 MW coal-based thermal power station, adding 1000 MW to the national grid.
