POWERGRID Conquers Challenging Terrain to Commission 765 kV Lakadia–Ahmedabad Line
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has successfully commissioned the 765 kV Double-Circuit Lakadia–Ahmedabad Transmission Line

New Delhi | December 2025: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has successfully commissioned the 765 kV Double-Circuit Lakadia–Ahmedabad Transmission Line with a total length of 368.25 circuit kilometres (ckm), marking a significant milestone in strengthening India’s high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
The transmission line passes through some of the most challenging terrains, including creek crossings involving 20 pile locations, wildlife zones, forest stretches, and regions marked by adverse geographical and environmental conditions.
Despite these complexities, the project was completed through meticulous planning, advanced engineering solutions, and sustained on-ground efforts.
The successful commissioning stands as a testament to the grit, resilience, and unwavering dedication of POWERGRID’s project team, who worked round the clock to overcome logistical, environmental, and technical challenges. This infrastructure is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing power transmission reliability and supporting the growing electricity demand in the region.
