BWWF Hosts Global Dialogue on Men’s Role in Women’s Empowerment To Celebrate International Women Day

Bangalore: Strengthening its commitment to gender equality, the BEML Women’s Welfare Foundation (BWWF) organized a thought-provoking panel discussion on “The Role of Men in Women’s Empowerment.”
The event brought together industry leaders, policy advocates, and change-makers to explore how men can actively contribute to dismantling gender barriers and fostering inclusivity.
Mr. Steven Connolly, Deputy Consul General, High Commission of Australia, Bengaluru, graced the event as the Chief Guest, alongside Smt. Piyali Roy, Patron-In-Chief of BWWF.
The distinguished panel featured Dr. Sowjanya Vashistha, psychologist and Kannada TV host; Ms. Nimmou Nilkanthan, author and educationist; Ms. Raghavi Pratap, corporate lawyer; Ms. Sona Kumar, advocate at High Court of Karnataka; and Ms. Ashika, trustee of Aweksha Trust.
Discussions centered on corporate policies, cultural shifts, and social frameworks needed to empower women, with a key focus on men’s role as allies in leadership, workplaces, and communities.

Smt. Piyali Roy highlighted the importance of shared responsibility, stating, “True empowerment happens when men become active participants in breaking gender biases, not just silent supporters.”
Echoing this, Mr. Connolly emphasized, “Gender equality is a collective mission. Organizations must institutionalize inclusivity to make gender parity the norm.”
