Coal India Chairman visits Western Coalfields Limited to review operations
Coal India Chairman Shri B. Sairam visits WCL to review mines and projects, encourages teams as Majri and Wani areas surpass coal production targets in FY 2026.
Coal India Chairman Shri B. Sairam inspecting mines at Western Coalfields LimitedShri B. Sairam, Chairman of Coal India Limited, is on a two-day visit to its subsidiary, Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), to review operational performance and strategic initiatives.
On the first day of his visit, Shri Sairam met the Majri Area team and inspected the Ukni opencast mine in Wani North Area and the Neeljay opencast mine in Wani Area. He also visited the Ghugus railway siding at Wani Area and the bridge construction site over the Wardha River. In addition, the Chairman toured the Bhatadi opencast mine of Chandrapur Area.
During the visit, Shri Sairam interacted with teams from Wani, Wani North, Chandrapur, and Ballapur Areas, encouraging them to strive toward achieving their operational targets. He was accompanied by Shri J. P. Dwivedi, CMD of WCL, along with the senior management of the subsidiary.
WCL has reported coal production of over 40 million tonnes in the current fiscal, with the Majri and Wani areas surpassing their production targets so far. The Chairman’s visit aimed at assessing on-ground operations, monitoring ongoing projects, and motivating teams to maintain high productivity levels.
