CONCOR Begins 2,400-km Pig Iron Logistics Corridor Connecting Andhra Pradesh to North India
New Delhi, June 17, 2026: Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) has successfully commenced the loading and transportation of pig iron from the ACPC Private Siding to the GFPA CONCOR terminal, establishing a new long-distance freight stream spanning around 2,400 kilometres.
The initiative, driven by the CONCOR Hyderabad Cluster, strengthens connectivity between southern and northern parts of the country and marks a significant addition to the company's long-haul logistics portfolio.
New Long-Lead Traffic Initiative
The newly launched logistics corridor connects industrial locations in South India with markets in North India, enabling seamless movement of bulk cargo through an integrated multimodal network.
The operation represents an important long-lead traffic initiative for CONCOR and highlights the growing role of rail-based logistics in facilitating efficient cargo movement across the country.
Partnership with Arjas Modern Steel
CONCOR acknowledged the support of Arjas Modern Steel Pvt. Ltd., located at Jambulapadu, Challavaripalle, Ananthapur district in Andhra Pradesh, under the Guntakal Division of South Coast Railway.
The steel producer has entrusted CONCOR with its logistics requirements, paving the way for efficient transportation of pig iron over long distances.
