Cochin Shipyard Distances Itself From Engineering College Advertisements, Warns of Legal Action
Kochi, June 17, 2026: State-owned Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has issued a public clarification distancing itself from social media advertisements released by Rajadhani Institute of Engineering and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad Campus, regarding its B.Tech programmes in Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding.
CSL stated that it has no association, involvement or endorsement of the advertisements and has not authorized the use of its name or corporate identity for such promotional activities.
No Authorization Given by Cochin Shipyard
According to the company, the use of the name "Cochin Shipyard Limited" in the institute's advertisements is unauthorized.
CSL emphasized that:
-
It has no connection with the concerned promotional campaigns.
-
It has not endorsed or approved the advertisements.
-
Any claims, representations or assurances made by the institution are solely its responsibility.
-
The company bears no liability for any consequences arising from such claims.
Students and Parents Advised to Exercise Caution
The shipbuilding PSU urged students, parents and members of the public to exercise due diligence while considering admissions and to verify any claims independently.
The company specifically clarified that any:
-
Placement-related statements,
-
Assurances,
-
Admissions-related claims, or
-
Other representations made by the institution
are entirely the responsibility of the concerned educational institution.
Legal Action May Follow
Taking a serious view of the matter, Cochin Shipyard said it reserves the right to initiate appropriate legal and other actions against any unauthorized use of its name, corporate identity or reputation.
The development highlights growing concerns over the misuse of corporate brands in educational promotions and the importance of verifying institutional affiliations before taking admission decisions.
