Who Is Rabindra Patel? NTPC Elevates Veteran Engineer to Executive Director

New Delhi: State-owned power giant NTPC Ltd. has appointed Sh. Rabindra Patel as Executive Director as part of a broader senior management reshuffle announced by the company.

Rabindra Patel, a seasoned mechanical engineer, joined NTPC on October 26, 1991, and has completed more than 34.5 years of service with the Maharatna PSU. Throughout his long career, he has played key roles in operations and maintenance and has contributed across several technical functions.

Extensive Experience Across Key Functions

During his tenure at NTPC, Rabindra Patel has handled responsibilities in:

• Business Unit Head

• Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

• Communications & Testing

• Ash Dyke Maintenance

• Mechanical Maintenance

• Plant Operations

His broad experience in power plant operations and maintenance has made him one of the experienced leaders within the organization.

Educational Background

Rabindra Patel holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering, providing a strong technical foundation for his leadership responsibilities in India's largest power generation company.

NTPC Strengthens Senior Management

The appointment comes after NTPC announced the elevation of 34 officials to the position of Executive Director with effect from June 8, 2026. The move is aimed at strengthening the company's leadership team and supporting its long-term growth and energy transition initiatives.

With more than three decades of experience in the power sector, Rabindra Patel's appointment is expected to further enhance NTPC's operational excellence and maintenance capabilities.
