CSL Wins Contract to Build Four Fully Electric ‘TRAnsverse’ Tugs for Svitzer
New Delhi: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has signed a significant contract with Denmark-based Svitzer for the construction of four fully electric, 70-ton bollard pull ‘TRAnsverse’ tugs, marking another major milestone in India’s shipbuilding capabilities.
The agreement was formalized by Dr. Harikrishnan S, Director (Operations), in the presence of UCSL CEO Harikumar, GM (Business Development) Nagesh Krishnamoorthy, and Svitzer A/S leadership including CEO Kasper Nilaus and CFO Knud Winkler.
The next-generation electric tugs are designed to deliver high maneuverability and exceptional performance, capable of handling complex vessel configurations across a wide range of ship sizes. Their robust capabilities make them suitable for operations even in challenging weather and tidal conditions.
Once completed, the tugs will join Svitzer’s global fleet and will be deployed for port and terminal operations across Europe, America, and Australia.
This contract not only reinforces CSL’s position in the global maritime industry but also highlights growing confidence in India’s advanced shipbuilding and green-technology capabilities.
