New Delhi: In a major boost to India’s domestic copper production, Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) officially kicked off underground mining operations at its Kendadih Copper Mine in Ghatshila, Jharkhand, on January 15, 2026.

This reopening is a key part of HCL’s broader strategy to expand its mining footprint and meet the rising demand for copper driven by India’s infrastructure and industrial boom.
