IndianOil Refineries to Build an Energy-Secure and Self-Reliant India, Says Director (Refineries) Arvind Kumar

New Delhi, September 2, 2026 Mr Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries), IndianOil, led the 67th IndianOil Day celebrations on September 1 at Refineries Headquarters, virtually joined by employees from across the Refineries Division.

In his address, Mr Kumar reflected on IndianOil's 66-year journey and its enduring purpose of serving the nation and securing its energy needs. He commended teams for ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies through seamless collaboration during the recent West Asia crisis, and for stepping up LPG production by nearly 35% — a move that helped reduce import dependence and strengthened domestic supply security. Calling upon IOCians to respond decisively to an increasingly complex operating environment, Mr Kumar said, "We cannot choose the environment in which we operate. But we can choose how we respond to it."

Director (Refineries) also spoke about the evolving refinery landscape, marked by deeper integration with petrochemicals, an expanding portfolio of specialty products, and the development of India's first large-scale 10 KTA Green Hydrogen Plant. He emphasised that the refinery of tomorrow must be more integrated, more intelligent, more energy-efficient, more sustainable and more resilient.

Excellence and commitment across the workforce were recognised on the occasion through the Suggestion Scheme Awards, Swachhata Awards and Long Service Awards.

Earlier in the day, Mr Kumar also visited The Blind Relief Association, Delhi, as part of IndianOil's "Smiles We Spread" outreach initiative, interacting with visually impaired students and reaffirming the Corporation's commitment to inclusive, accessible education.
