Inter Area Drill Competition–2025 Concludes at Western Coalfields Limited
New Delhi: The Inter Area Drill Competition–2025 was organized at the Indora Parade Ground of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) from 17.12.2025 to 19.12.2025. The grand closing and prize distribution ceremony of the competition was held on 19.12.2025.
The closing ceremony was presided over by the Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Shri J. P. Dwivedi, as the Chief Guest. The function was graced by Director (Finance) Shri Bikram Ghosh, Director (Technical – Operations / Projects & Planning) Shri Anandji Prasad, Director (Human Resources) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, and Chief Vigilance Officer Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre as Distinguished Guests.
In his presidential address, Shri J. P. Dwivedi stated that safety, discipline, and preparedness are the core pillars of WCL’s work culture. He congratulated the teams that delivered outstanding performances in the competition and expressed hope that such events would be organized on an even larger and stronger scale in the future. He also appreciated the contributions of all areas, judges, and supporting departments.
As a Distinguished Guest, Director (Human Resources) Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, in his address, remarked that the Inter Area Drill Competition is not merely a contest, but a celebration of leadership, discipline, and collective effort. Congratulating all participants, he stated that such exercises play a vital role in enhancing employees’ confidence and professional competence as part of human resource development.
The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Vikrant Malhan, Chief Security Officer (CSO). In his welcome speech, he presented a detailed overview of the three-day competition and extended a warm welcome to all the guests and participants.
Addressing the gathering on behalf of the WCL Operating Committee, Shri Satish Gabale appreciated the competition and conveyed his best wishes to all the winners.
The competition was organized with the objective of strengthening discipline, physical fitness, team spirit, and disaster management skills among employees. Events such as Cross Country, Tent Pitching, Weapon Firing, and Military Drills were conducted during the competition.
During the closing ceremony, the winners and runners-up teams were awarded prizes by the dignitaries. Outstanding security personnel were also felicitated for their exemplary performance. Wani North Area was adjudged the Best Area in Drill, while Chandrapur Area secured the runner-up position in Drill. The Nagpur Area team won the title of Best Area in Fitness. Chandrapur Area bagged the Best Area award in Weapon Firing. In the Tent Pitching competition, the Basic Security Training Platoon won the first prize.
The closing ceremony was attended by members of the WCL Steering Committee members, namely Shri Shiv Kumar Yadav, Shri C. J. Joseph, and Shri Satish Gabale, along with General Managers, Heads of Departments from Headquarters, and a large number of officers and employees. The programme was compered by Smt. Uma Urkude from the Security Department.
