Ministry of Coal Reviews Coal Exploration and R&D Projects at CMPDI
The Ministry of Coal reviewed coal and lignite exploration and R&D projects under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) at Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) Headquarters, Ranchi, on September 4, 2026.
Shri Alok Kumar Singh, Advisor (Projects), Ministry of Coal, chaired the review meeting. Shri Anand Mohan, Director (Technical/R&D, BD), CMPDI, along with ED (Exploration), Coal India Limited and concerned General Managers and senior officials, participated in the meeting.

Exploration and R&D in Focus
The meeting reviewed ongoing exploration programmes along with planned activities under the 2026–27 Annual Plans. Critical mineral exploration and utilisation of NER components were also part of the discussions.
R&D initiatives, including the ongoing Hackathon and NACCER, were reviewed as part of the meeting.
Focus on Implementation
Discussions also centred on expediting exploration activities, strengthening research and development efforts, and ensuring effective implementation of key initiatives.
