NTPC Green Energy Commissions 12.5 MW Solar Unit in Gujarat
New Delhi: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), the renewable energy arm of India's largest power utility, NTPC Limited, announced today the commissioning of a new solar power capacity in Bhuj, Gujarat. A part capacity of 12.5 MW of the solar project has been declared commercially operational (COD) with effect from October 17, 2025.
The commissioning marks a significant milestone for the power giant, as the new capacity increases the NTPC Group's total installed and commercial capacity to 83,906 MW.
Project Details and Capacity Expansion
The 12.5 MW unit is a part of a larger 37.5 MW solar project located in Bhuj, Gujarat. The project is being developed by Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Limited, a group company of NGEL. Ayana Renewable Power is a subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private, a joint venture between NGEL and ONGC Green Limited.

Aligning with Green Energy Targets
The declaration of commercial operation highlights NTPC's accelerating pace in the country's clean energy transition. The company has set an ambitious target to achieve 60 GW of Renewable Energy (RE) capacity by 2032, aiming for RE sources to constitute nearly 45% of its overall power generation capacity. The phased commissioning of solar projects, like the one in Bhuj, is a key step in strengthening its renewable energy portfolio across India.
