RECPDCL Hands Over Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Project to Tata Power

New Delhi, 9th January 2026REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Limited, the Maharatna CPSU under the Ministry of Power, today handed over Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the Intra-State Transmission Project of Maharashtra, to M/s The Tata Power Company Limited.

The project was awarded through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process coordinated by RECPDCL, where Tata Power emerged as the successful bidder for the development of the transmission project on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The handover ceremony was conducted by Shri Vijay Kulkarni, Sr. GM & HoD (T&D), RECPDCL, to Shri Piyush Kumar, Head BD-T&D (International), Tata Power, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, Tata Power, and Maharashtra STU. The project is expected to be implemented over a 24-month period.

The transmission scheme involves the establishment of a 400 kV double circuit line spanning approximately 115 km from Jejuri (existing) to Hinjewadi, along with associated works to enhance the state’s power infrastructure and ensure reliable electricity transmission.

This strategic handover underscores RECPDCL’s role in facilitating private sector participation in India’s power transmission sector and reinforces Tata Power’s leadership in executing large-scale infrastructure projects.
