RVNL secures a Rs 145.35 crore traction power project from Southern Railway, supporting India’s Mission 3000 MT. Stock gains nearly 1 percent after the win.

New Delhi: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a new contract valued at ₹145.35 crore after receiving a letter of acceptance from Southern Railway for a traction power enhancement project. The work involves the complete design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Scott-connected traction substations, power-quality systems, switching posts, and a 2x25 kV feeding arrangement. The project also includes advanced systems such as SCADA controls and automatic fault-locator technology for the Jolarpettai–Salem stretch in the Salem Division.
This initiative is expected to strengthen the rail network’s power infrastructure and aligns with the national mission to boost freight-loading capacity to 3,000 million tonnes. RVNL stated that the contract forms part of its routine operational activities and is scheduled for completion within 540 days.
RVNL continues to execute a broad range of railway infrastructure projects across India, including electrification, new lines, doubling, metro systems, major bridges, workshops, and institutional structures. Despite its operational momentum, the company reported a year-on-year fall of nearly 20 percent in consolidated profit for the second quarter of FY26, which stood at ₹230.29 crore. However, revenue from operations increased by a little over 5 percent, reaching ₹5,122.98 crore during the same period.
Following the announcement, the company’s shares recorded a modest rise, ending 0.95 percent higher at ₹314.65 on the stock exchange.
