Bank of India Inaugurates IFSC Banking Unit at GIFT City, Integrates with FCSS
New Delhi: In a significant move to bolster India's position as a global financial hub, Bank of India marked a strategic expansion today. The bank's Managing Director & CEO, Mr. Rajneesh Karnatak, inaugurated the Bank of India's International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) Banking Unit (IBU) at GIFT City, Gujarat.
This new IBU has been seamlessly integrated with the Foreign Currency Settlement System (FCSS), a critical infrastructure for facilitating efficient and secure multi-currency settlements within the IFSC. This integration enables Bank of India to offer enhanced global banking services, including trade finance, forex operations, and cross-border lending, directly from the GIFT City platform.
As a promoter of CCIL IFSC Ltd., the entity responsible for operating the FCSS, Bank of India's launch underscores its deep commitment to building world-class financial infrastructure. The initiative is aligned with the national vision to develop GIFT City as a premier gateway for international capital and financial services.
Mr. Rajneesh Karnatak, MD & CEO, Bank of India, stated, "The inauguration of our IFSC Banking Unit at GIFT City is a pivotal step in our global strategy. By integrating with the FCSS, we are not just opening a new branch; we are plugging into a world-class ecosystem that will allow us to deliver sophisticated banking solutions to our international clientele, reinforcing India's growing stature in global finance."
The establishment of the IBU is expected to:
-
Provide Indian corporates and global clients with easier access to foreign currency funding.
-
Enhance the bank's capability to support international trade and investment flows.
-
Offer a full suite of IFSC-enabled products, including external commercial borrowing (ECB) facilitation and wealth management services for non-residents.
This development represents Bank of India's proactive role in shaping a robust and competitive global banking ecosystem from Indian soil.
