RBI Launches ITES Export Survey 2025-26; Software Firms Must Submit Data by July 15
Mumbai, June 1, 2026: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched its annual survey on Computer Software and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) Exports for the financial year 2025-26, calling upon software exporters, ITES providers, and business process outsourcing (BPO) firms to submit their responses by July 15, 2026.
The survey plays a key role in assessing India's software and IT-enabled services exports and contributes to the compilation of the country's external sector statistics. The aggregated findings are also released in the public domain, providing valuable insights into the performance of India's technology export sector.
Survey Covers Software, ITES and BPO Exports
According to the RBI, all entities engaged in exporting software services, IT-enabled services, and BPO services are required to participate in the survey. The central bank has updated the survey format for the 2025-26 round to improve data collection and reporting standards.
The survey seeks information on various aspects of software exports and ITES activities, helping policymakers track trends in one of India's largest export-oriented industries.
Online Submission Through CIMS Portal
This year's survey is being conducted through the Centralised Information Management System (CIMS), enabling web-based submission with built-in validation checks to improve data accuracy and quality.
The system also provides automated email acknowledgements after successful submission. RBI has stated that the existing Excel-based reporting mechanism will continue in parallel for the current round but will be phased out from the next survey cycle.
Participating entities will receive survey invitations through both:
Companies can submit their responses through the CIMS portal or by using the Excel-based format and emailing the completed survey to the designated RBI address.
Deadline Set for July 15
The RBI has fixed July 15, 2026 as the last date for submission of survey responses.
Entities that have not yet registered on the CIMS platform can create login credentials through the self-registration facility and complete the survey online.
Importance for India's Technology Export Sector
India's software and IT-enabled services industry remains one of the country's largest foreign exchange earners. Data collected through the survey helps the RBI measure export performance, understand sectoral trends, and maintain accurate balance of payments statistics.
The annual exercise also supports policymakers in evaluating the contribution of software and ITES exports to India's economy and external trade position.
