NTPC Green Energy Invites Bids for 3,300 MWh Battery Storage Project at Khavda Solar Park
New Delhi, June 1, 2026: NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has invited bids for the development of a 3,300 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the NTPC REL Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat.
The project will be developed across four blocks, including three blocks of 300 MW/900 MWh each and one block of 200 MW/600 MWh, taking the total capacity to 1,100 MW/3,300 MWh.
The EPC contract covers design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and integration of the battery storage systems. The selected bidder will also be responsible for comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) for 15 years.
NGEL has specified a 25-year design life for the BESS, with batteries capable of at least 10,000 charge-discharge cycles. The project requires a minimum annual availability of 98%, monthly round-trip efficiency of 80%, and guaranteed dispatchable capacity of at least 92% over 15 years.
The battery storage system will support grid stability and improve renewable energy integration at the Khavda Solar Park, one of India's largest clean energy projects.
