Kanwalpreet Appointed Additional CEO of GeM on Five-Year Deputation

New Delhi, June 17, 2026: The Ministry of Railways has approved the deputation of Kanwalpreet, an officer of the Indian Railway Stores Service (IRSS), to the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) as Additional Chief Executive Officer (Additional CEO).

According to an order issued by the Railway Board on June 17, 2026, Kanwalpreet has been selected for the assignment on the usual terms of deputation for a period of five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

 

Present Posting in Railway Board

Kanwalpreet is currently serving as Executive Director, Railway Stores (Goods) [EDRS(G)] in the Railway Board.

An IRSS officer, he was inducted into service on April 1, 2002, and was born on August 3, 1976.

The Railway Board has directed that the officer be relieved to enable him to take up his new assignment and that the date of relief be communicated to the Board.

GeM Strengthens Leadership Team

The appointment comes as the Government e-Marketplace continues to expand its role as India's flagship public procurement portal, facilitating transparent and efficient procurement for ministries, departments, public sector enterprises and government organizations.

Kanwalpreet's experience in procurement and stores management within Indian Railways is expected to contribute to GeM's efforts to further strengthen digital procurement systems and enhance operational efficiency.
