New Delhi, January 2026: In a major step forward for India’s mineral exploration efforts, Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Eastern Region, to carry out comprehensive Ground Gravity and Magnetic (GGM) surveys under the National Geophysical Mapping Programme (NGPM) Phase-IV.

The initiative will cover the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and is slated to be completed in FY 2026-27 over a one-year period. The program aims to enhance mineral discovery, resource mapping, and geophysical understanding in these regions.

MECL has successfully completed Phases I & II of NGPM, with Phase-III currently in progress, and Phase-IV marks a continuation of its pioneering contributions to India’s geophysical mapping capabilities.

The MoA was signed by Shri K.K.S.R.K.S. Sai, DGM (Geophysics), MECL, and Shri Pankaj Kumar, DDG and RMH-1 (Geophysics), GSI Eastern Region. The ceremony was graced by Smt. Varsha Ashok Aglawe, ADG & HOD, GSI ER, and Shri Indra Dev Narayan, CMD, MECL, alongside senior officials including Shri Pankaj Pandey (Director, Technical, MECL), Shri Surendra Singh Kshatriya (Director, Finance, MECL), Dr. Ramesh Singh (DDG, Geophysics, GSI ER), and other esteemed representatives from MECL and GSI.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen India’s mineral exploration infrastructure and support sustainable resource development, leveraging MECL’s geophysical expertise and GSI’s rich legacy in geological surveys.
