NHPC Declares Commercial Operation of Unit #1 of Subansiri Lower HE Project (2000 MW)

New Delhi: NHPC Limited has officially declared the Commercial Operation Date (CoD) of Unit #1 (250 MW) of the Subansiri Lower Hydro Electric Project (2000 MW), spanning Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, effective from 00:00 hours on 20 March 2026.

This milestone marks the successful commissioning of 3 units—Unit #1, Unit #2, and Unit #3—out of the total 8 units planned for the project, each with a capacity of 250 MW. NHPC has confirmed that updates regarding the commissioning of the remaining units will be communicated in due course.

The Subansiri Lower HE Project, one of India's largest hydroelectric initiatives, plays a key role in enhancing renewable energy capacity and supporting the region's sustainable development goals. With its full capacity of 2000 MW, the project is expected to significantly contribute to the power needs of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and surrounding regions.
