NHPC Records Highest-Ever Monthly Generation in August 2026
New Delhi, September 2026: NHPC Limited has achieved its highest-ever monthly generation of 4,695.74 MU in August 2026 during FY 2026–27, surpassing its previous record of 4,478.42 MU set in July 2026.
Congratulating the entire NHPC family on this achievement, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, said: “This achievement reflects the dedication, teamwork and technical excellence of our employees across NHPC’s power stations and projects. It reaffirms our commitment to operational excellence, timely project execution, asset reliability and sustainable power generation. I congratulate every member of the NHPC family for this remarkable accomplishment.”
What Made the Record Possible
The record generation was driven by three major developments:
-
Commissioning of the 800 MW Parbati-II Hydro Electric Project
-
Addition of 1,000 MW capacity at the Subansiri Lower HE Project (750 MW during FY 2025-26 and an additional 250 MW in May 2026)
-
Successful restoration of the 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station in July 2026 after it remained out of service since the October 2023 flash floods
With these additions, NHPC’s operational installed capacity has increased to 7,651 MW (Hydro: 7,251 MW, Solar: 350 MW, Wind: 50 MW). This enhanced capacity has enabled the company to maximise clean energy generation during the ongoing high inflow season.
The achievement reinforces NHPC’s commitment to powering the nation with reliable, renewable and sustainable electricity, while contributing significantly to India’s energy security and clean energy transition.
