NMDC Steel's Nagarnar plant gets electric railway connectivity boost
NMDC Steel Limited's Nagarnar facility near Jagdalpur has successfully electrified its railway siding. This development is a significant advancement in improving the plant's logistics capabilities along the Kottavalasa-Kirandul (KK) line.
The 25KV AC overhead power supply system, along with sub-sectioning and paralleling posts, was jointly inaugurated by Saurabh Prasad, the Divisional Railway Manager of Waltair, East Coast Railway, and K. Praveen Kumar, Executive Director and Head of NMDC Steel Limited's Nagarnar plant.
"This electrification will enable seamless movement of freight trains and improve mobility through faster turnarounds," said Saurabh Prasad during the commissioning ceremony.
He emphasized that the upgrade would facilitate increased transportation of both raw materials and finished goods, supporting the scaling up of production at the Nagarnar Steel Plant, which began operations in October 2023.
