RINL Celebrates National Sports Day with Enthusiastic Participation of Employees, Dependants and School Children

New Delhi: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the Corporate Entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, celebrated National Sports Day 2026 on 29.08.2026 with enthusiasm and sporting spirit at Ukku Stadium and Hockey Field today, commemorating the birth anniversary of legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
 

The Sports Department of RINL organized a series of sports and games to promote physical fitness, healthy living, teamwork and sportsmanship among employees and their families, as well as young children. The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 200 school children, employees and dependents, reflecting the vibrant sporting culture nurtured by RINL.

A variety of events were conducted as part of the celebrations, which includes 100 meter races, 2 km walk for employees, athletics events for school children in different age categories, yoga and breathing exercises for dependents and senior citizens, hockey mixed penalty shootout and relay races. The events provided participants with an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent while enjoying the spirit of healthy competition.

The enthusiastic participation of children and family members added colour and vibrancy to the celebrations. The sporting activities also encouraged participants to embrace fitness as an integral part of their daily lives and highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, confidence, teamwork and a positive outlook.

The sports events were followed by prize distribution to the winners.

The National Sports Day celebrations at RINL concluded on a spirited note, with participants displaying remarkable enthusiasm, sporting excellence and camaraderie.
